What You Need to Know About Veneers
If you suffer from stained, misshapen, or crooked teeth, talk to us about our transformative cosmetic solution named porcelain veneers.
Porcelain veneers are thin and strong shells of ceramic bonded directly to your tooth’s surface to cover over any smile issues.
This quick and easy solution offers many advantages, including:
-
Natural-look and feel
-
Stain-resistant teeth
-
Strong and durable
-
A long-lasting restoration
You can care for your veneers the same way you would your natural teeth. Dr. Jelsing may recommend wearing a special nightguard to help protect your smile if you are prone to teeth grinding.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Dr. Jelsing wants you to take an active role in the creation of your new smile. She’ll partner with you to choose your desired tooth shape and color, as well as answer all your questions.
Even though porcelain veneers are wafer-thin, Dr. Jelsing still needs to remove a small amount of enamel (outer layer of your tooth) to make room for your veneer. She’ll also take digital impressions, so your veneers fit accurately over your prepared teeth. Occasionally, we’ll place temporary veneers for protection.
Once the veneers are ready, Dr. Jelsing makes sure the fit and color are correct. After the final adjustments have been completed, your veneers will be cleaned and bonded to your teeth. Finally, a hardening light will be used to finish the bonding process.
All the staff is super friendly, and they appeal to not only the patient but all family members as well. The waiting room has coffee, water, and cookies—the best dentist experience I've ever had.

Veneers: Your Maintenance Guide
Giving you a lifetime smile.
The first, and most crucial step, in taking care of your veneers is daily brushing and flossing. We recommend using a non-abrasive toothpaste and following an excellent at-home hygiene routine (you can get top tips from our team!).
With veneers, it is normal for some patients to experience tooth sensitivity. This is caused by the small amount of enamel left on the tooth after preparation. Nevertheless, the sensitivity should stop after a couple of weeks (please contact us if it persists).
If you have the habit of grinding your teeth, Dr. Jelsing will gladly discuss the best nightguard options for your specific case.
We highly recommend scheduling regular six-month check-ups, so Dr. Jelsing can evaluate your teeth and safeguard your smile for years to come!
